Another Easy 5 Mile Training Run, And The GR Marathon Is Not Too Far Off

A nice cool comfortable 5 mile run with my running partner. We did get caught in a little bit of rain towards the end of our run. I feel like we kept the pace on the easy side. I think we’re both surprised how close the is, but we’re feeling ready for it.

I’m still looking for some individuals to partner with me, about $200 to go, and help me hit the $1000 mark for wells in Africa. We have matching funds right now so for every $1 that is given it’s actually $2.

10 More Miles And 2 Years Ago

It was great weather for a 10 miles run this morning. As I finished things up I was reminded that just 2 years ago I was blessed to be hanging out with a bunch of children in Sierra Leone. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon #RiverBankRun I had hoped to return there last year but things didn’t work out. Traveling to Sierra Leone and seeing first hand the hardship of the lack of clean water, as well as the blessings a village experiences when a well is put in, is something that I will never forget. Let me tell you, until you have an experience like that your world view is pretty narrow minded. It’s that experience that has driven much of my perspective on the impact…

Reflecting On My Time In Sierra Leone

The TL;DR is: I am blessed more than I ever understood and I will make every effort to give thanks in all circumstances. Also, where God’s love exists there is always hope for something better. As I continue to process my experience in Sierra Leone Africa I can’t help but feel like I spent a week in another world. What I find simply amazing is that in a place so filled with hardship, and circumstances I can barely begin to comprehend, there are people that still manage to find joy, be generous, and show love and kindness to someone so very much unlike them. I chose this photo of children, not filled with smiles and laughter, but showing that theirs is a life of daily…

Highlights of WordCamp Grand Rapids 2018

TL;DR – This year #WCGR was all about people and conversations for me. Oh, and trying my hand at speaking, which I didn’t totally bomb. Today marked the 4th WordCamp Grand Rapids that I’ve attended. Last year I was just an attendee but this year I stepped things up in a pretty bug way. I was not only a volunteer at the Happiness Bar, but I helped with organize the event, and was even one of the speakers. One of the things I love about #WordCamp Grand Rapids, and the #WordPress community is the people. Yet again I felt welcomed as a member of the community, valued for my experiences as a developer and user of WordPress, and encouraged when I had doubts of being…

    Kicking Things Up A Notch

Today my training run was kicked up a notch with some interval speed work. It definitely tested how recovered I am from the marathon. It’s been awhile since I have done any high intensity runs of substantial length. These sorts of runs do make it hard to spend a lot of time focusing on prayer unfortunately. It did however bring to mind #WhyIRun during some of the intense intervals and help to keep me pushing on. #HWI #Run4Water Donate to Clean Water – https://timn.me/2t9D4ne

    Just A Short Tuesday Run

It was nice to sleep in a little before doing the short run, especially given my #Endomondo training plan has me on a 5 run per week schedule. The only problem with these short runs is that I get a little too caught up in my speed. I love having the worship workout music pumping me up to full speed. It was pretty warm out already at 5am. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon
