Putting In Some Miles On A Crisp Tuesday Morning

This morning I opted to run without the cleats, since I could see that the sidewalks looked to be mostly cleared. Unless there is snow covering the sidewalks the cleats just don’t feel very comfortable to run in. It was a nice easy run, listening to some worship workout music: Christian Workout – 50 Best Music Hits Running & Cardio

    It’s The Abominable Snowman!

Let’s just say it was a little cold outside. I still don’t understand why people, and businesses, and churches couldn’t have their sidewalks clear by now. For those that got them cleared you are a blessing to us runners. I made the mistake of using my CamelBak again. The line froze again at about mile 3-4. I need to figure out something better, maybe the best I can do is water bottles when it’s this cold and just conserve. I can say that until now it’s been pretty great weather for runners in the winter. I take days like this as just another way to prepare for anything come the Groundhog Day Marathon. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus

Tackling An Intense 30 Minute Thursday Run

Some days you just feel great out there running and some days you don’t. Today was the latter, but it was still intense, and I was really pushing myself. It’s days like today that I actually appreciate those hard days where it feels like you are barely moving and all you can think of is, “Am I there yet?”. I appreciate those days because I know that without those days, and overcoming them, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I also know that especially on those days God was right there with me walking(sometimes literally) by my side helping me every step of the way. As I spent time listening to the worship music and praying for my family and friends. I was also…

Expanding The Meaning Of Running For Water

So this morning, after making it about a quarter of a mile from home, I realized I had forgotten to grab my water when I walked out the door. At that point I really didn’t feel like going back home and starting my run over. The first half of the run was OK, but the second half was a bit more of a struggle without my water, making my #Run4Water mean even more than normal. As I continued through my run, #WhyIRun was at the forefront of my mind. My struggle doesn’t even compare to the daily struggle for clean water that those in Sierra Leone, Africa face. I had the benefit of a virtually unlimited supply of water waiting for me after the run….

    Final Week Before Marathon Day

I hit my $1000 fundraising goal but there are many other team members still working to reach their goals. Partner with #HWI and help bring clean water to those in need. https://www.hopewaterinternational.org/teams/49 #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon There are only 5 more days before the Grand Rapids Marathon, which will be my 4th marathon. This week the number of runs is winding down, with only a short interval run this morning. I’ll do another short easy run on Thursday. It’s hard to believe that the marathon is this week already. No matter how much I train I always still feel a little nervous going into a race. There are many on the team where this will be their first full or half marathon, and the good thing…
