Tackling Another Evening Speed Work Training Run

After a long day of hanging out with the family and driving home from Ohio I managed to get out and get my training run done for the day. I wasn’t sure if I was going to have it in me to get the run done. It was only a 30 minute run so I figured it wouldn’t be all bad. I generally hate doing evening runs, as I prefer an early morning run to start off the day. I’m actually not a morning person at all but I hate the feeling of supper sitting in my stomach during a run.

All things considered, even meeting up with a skunk on the trail, the run went as well as can be expected. I’m just glad I got out there and got it done.

Partner with me to put it wells in Africa, only $450 to go to hit my goal. https://timn.me/HWI2022

Just Another Saturday 13.1 Mile Run

The need for access to clean water in Sierra Leone hasn’t been met so why would my running stop. Every run I take gives me an opportunity to share about the remaining need for clean water in Africa. I also hope that my commitment inspires others. This holiday season remember those less fortunate and make an impact. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus Give the gift of clean water: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr

Tackling 6 Miles On My Last Day In Virginia

Give the gift of clean water and hope for the future to children and families in Africa: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon This was one of those tough morning runs, where you have thoughts of quiting early. I didn’t let those feelings stop me, or use the heat and humidity as an excuse. I slowed down but kept pushing through. The same could be said when we are trying to make an impact on the world. If we let the overwhelming need minimize the significance of that one well that goes in then we risk giving up. It all starts with one. One step, one mile, one day, one village, one well. Over time that one turns into an impact that we couldn’t have even…

Managing A Late Start Interval Run

This morning had an off start. After waking up and looking at the time I realized I had forgot to change my alarm the night before and I had woken up an hour late. I tried to get myself out the door as soon as I could but I knew there was no way I was going to get the 8-9 miles in that my training plan called for. On top of that it was an interval training run. I decided to just follow the intervals but cut the run short in order to get back home at a decent time. I did manage to get just shy of miles in, even though I had some tough going intervals. When you throw the major wind…

The Keyword is β€œSince” Not β€œIf”

As a follow up to my previous post it’s important that we remember that everything we are called to do as a Christ follower is in the context of β€œsince” and not β€œif”. What’s the difference? If we have the thinking, β€œif someone is doing β€˜x’, or not doing β€˜y’, they can’t be a believer”, we are basically inferring that someone has no faith or belief in Christ because of their actions. That’s a pretty big leap, and a sure fire way to further the view that Christians are righteous, judgemental, hippacrits, essentially modern day Pharisees. As we dig into the New Testament we’ll find it’s very clear that as a result of being, or β€œsince” we are, Christ followers there should be a lot…

I Might Need To Adjust My Half Marathon Training

So yesterday I happened to PR for a half marathon. The β€œproblem” is that it was only a half marathon training run for a half I’m doing in July. My Endomondo training plan has my goal set for a 9:22min/mi pace come race day. Well I ended up blowing that time out of the water by finishing a training run half marathon with an 8:49min/mi pace. So I think my current goal is too conservative. It probably doesn’t help that I continually keep pushing myself beyond the training plan paces. I have a hard time managing my pace.

  1. @tim wait. 18,000 lumens?! EIGHTEEN THOUSAND β€” isn’t that like a car headlamp??? Does this thing really put out 18,000 lumens?Aside from that β€” I am 100% with you on lighting up the night runs. I recently switched from the Petzl Nao+ to the Petzl IKO and I LOVE how lightweight it is. And the 100 (!!!) lumen mode is just about bright enough for trails in the dark.
