Priority Number 1

Matthew 6:33 NLT

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. – Matthew 6:33 NLT

Our world tries to offer us a lot of things that distract us from what we should be pursuing. It goes without saying that when we are pursuing God our “needs” change. Many of what we think we need are merely wants, and God sometimes blesses us with those things as well.

    God’s Plans, My Hope

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord . “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. – Jeremiah 29:11 NLT I know there will be good days and not so good days. There will be times that the future seems uncertain. Despite how things may seem I know that God has my future in mind and I can rest and rely on that hope.

    Wasteful Weekends, Geeks…Gotta Love Em

So yeah, I pretty much wasted the weekend away again. Not totally, but I could have done a lot more than I did. I guess I sort of get tired of doing stuff, like work, all the time and want some time to just kick back and relax. I’m feeling like I’m kind of spinning my wheels with the web job. I really like to nail down the site design before I do the custom programming stuff. The problem is they’ve given me hardly anything to work with. Well Monday will have to be a big day to work on getting stuff going. I guess I’m going to worry less about the design and make sure the funcitonality is all there. So yeah, not much…

When Life Get’s Busy, When Life Get’s Complicated

Well, it’s almost the end of the month, but getting a post in now will still technically meet my hope of once a month right. I don’t have a lot of time…ha that seems to fit in nicely with the title huh…anyways, as it goes things seem more complicated these days as well. I find that it is so easy to fill up life with so many things, and really I’m not even talking about time wasters either. This past week Vanessa and I celebrated out 4th anniversary, though it seems crazy that it has even been that long, time flies. What stinks though is that over the past few days I feel like I’ve hardly seen my wife. It really isn’t as bad as…

    When God Calls for Patience…

I’ve been caught up tonight in some major Google searching. “For what” you may ask, “where is God leading me?”. The realm of my searching was community of faith, postmodern youth outreach, and reading some about the idea of the emergent church. What does this all mean? I have no clue. I feel an urgency to move (not just location), and for making great changes in my life. I’m searching to find out what’s next. I’m finding that perhaps God is calling me also to be patient and let Him reveal this change to me in His time. I kind of feel like it’s a bit cruel to be called in such a way but then asked to wait. I know, of course God is…

    Night Owls Unite…

So yeah, I think I’ll forever be a night owl. Seems like no matter what I can get myself to bed early at all. Of course this makes it almost impossible to get up early in the morning. You’ll notice I didn’t get me devotions in this morning, er rather yesterday seeing as it’s already tomorrow. If there weren’t things going on so close to 5 I’d just get into work by 9 in the morning and work later. Well perhaps after this weekend we’ll giver a go again. So yeah, works been crazy as usual. Looks like I may have like 3 website jobs coming my way too. Jim & Ginny have been spreading the word. I’m grateful but I just don’t know how…
  • God Equips

I’ve heard it said many times “God equips the called, He doesn’t necessarily call the equipped.”. The statement from my devotions this morning reminded me of that fact. Recently in our small group we talked about the storms we have in life. I wonder if at times God allows these storms in effort to equip us for something more? “God equips” – The Men of the Bible Devotional: Insights from the Warriors, Wimps, and Wise Guys by Compiled by Barbour Staff
