Devotions for Sacred Parenting – Day 7: A Season of Sacrifice
“Our kids, by their existence, make a legitimate spiritual claim on our time, our money, and our focus.” – Devotions for Sacred Parenting by Gary L. Thomas I was challenged today in how I approach being a Dad. Too often I choose to focus on everything but my kids. Our time is too short with our kids, and there will be years ahead when we will have all kinds of time to pursue other things. I will say that this is one of the reasons I wake up at 4am some days to get a run in as I make an effort to not let my running negatively impact my family. #parenting #sacrifice #responsibility

First Day in Sierra Leone
I had a great night’s sleep at the hotel. Where we are staying there are multiple buildings of rooms. Each of us has our own room and bathroom. I was honestly blown away with the accommodations. It was so amazing to experience worship with the people of Kathirie and listen to the pastor and children’s ministry teacher give messages. What impacted my the most was seeing the people of Kathirie giving offerings…

I Might Need To Adjust My Half Marathon Training
So yesterday I happened to PR for a half marathon. The “problem” is that it was only a half marathon training run for a half I’m doing in July. My Endomondo training plan has my goal set for a 9:22min/mi pace come race day. Well I ended up blowing that time out of the water by finishing a training run half marathon with an 8:49min/mi pace. So I think my current goal is too conservative. It probably doesn’t help that I continually keep pushing myself beyond the training plan paces. I have a hard time managing my pace.

I Need Him Every Day
I need a daily reminder that God is always there. This I declare about the Lord : He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. – Psalms 91:2 NLT
