Would You Rather…Run In 90 Degree Heat Or A Foot Of Snow?
There wasn’t a foot of snow this morning, it was probably more like 6 inches, but it still made for a tough go of it as you still need good traction to move. I almost wiped out on a slick spots in the Family Faire parking lot towards the end of my run. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus In regards to “would you rather”, my preference is winter running over hot summer running any day. It’s significantly easier getting yourself warmed up by running than it is to get cooled down. Then again it does matter what weather conditions you might expect for any race you plan on running. Race Pace Training Run

Tried to keep at a race pace but as usual my pace was a bit of a roller coaster. Even with music I can’t keep it very consistent from one minute to the next. I need to work on that, but perhaps my consistent race pace is slower than I’d like it to be and that’s why I have such a hard time. I know that I was pushing the limits given how high my heart rate would get. I think maybe it’s time to put aside the training plan that is trying to get me faster and just get out and enjoy the run. A Training Run Of Reflection
This morning was not only filled with worship time but also some time of reflecting on the holiday and the joy of celebrating with family the birth of our Savior. I’m thankful for the day we had to put all of the challenges of recent days, weeks, and months aside and enjoy time together with family. The New Year is upon us and, as it approaches, I pray that God would continue to guide our family in fulfilling his plan. I also spent time thinking about the next Sierra Leone trip coming May, and the team God is putting together. 11 Frosty Beard Miles
Today marks the last of my longer training runs as the taper begins before marathon day. The temp this morning was in the high teens which resulted in a pretty frosty beard. I ended up pushing things a little harder than the training plan called for, but I was trying to make it back home at a decent time. I ended up a bit slower the second half because I pushed things a bit harder than I should have, but that’s just the way it goes.
